We’re very excited. During half term next week we’re off to the Yeo Valley Canteen in Somerset for a very special picnic. And we’re rather hoping you might like to come too!

I’ve got three family tickets up for grabs for The Little Table of Delights, presented by Theatre Damfino. The winners can choose to join us at Yeo Valley Canteen on Tuesday 27 October, or you can take part in this fabulous interactive production at either The Print Room in Notting Hill in London on 29 October or Bath’s Theatre Royal on 30 October.

The Little Table of Delights was first presented at the Bristol Old Vic last year. It’s a unique food and theatre collaboration for children between Theatre Damfino and chefs Claire Thomson and Matt Williamson. It’s an interactive theatrical tasting in five acts: a feast for the senses and an enthralling journey of food tales from field to plate. Watch this short video for a flavour of what’s in store…

During this journey, we’ll encounter Bert and Betty the pirouetting beetroots, a jazz-singing queen bee, flying eggs, a dairy cow circus, a reggae ‘toast’ about grain and loaves and a catwalk-style parade of exotic spices. The young audience get to sit around a giant table while the chefs prepare delicious tasting morsels in the spotlight.

  1. To see a jazz-singing Queen Bee at the venue of our wedding reception (12 years ago) would just be THE highlight of half term, nay, possibly even the whole term! The Little Table of Delights sounds fantastic and only seen to be believed!

  2. What an amazing way to get kids excited about food and sounds like a wonderful show, I want to take the kids to Bath or Blagdon please! How cool to use all your senses in a show, clever idea, needs to tour in schools and get the word out there!

  3. How exciting, i saw Claire Thomson talking about this on Saturday Kitchen this morning. I would love to bring my two monkeys to the London event. I am a firm believer in getting kids interested in all kinds of food at an early age and it sounds like so much fun.
